Day 1/365

New year new me? Not quite. Day one of 2020 didn’t seem much different than day one of 2019. I woke up with a headache from too much fun the night before, and I didn’t accomplish anything besides simply surviving the day.

As the end of the year was approaching, I was thinking a lot about new year’s resolutions. Every year I come up with something. About 10 years ago, my resolution was to wash my face every night before bed. Believe it or not, I have kept that resolution all this time. In the last few years, I have resolved to lose weight. Unfortunately, that hasn’t worked out. So this year, I was thinking to keep the resolutions simple, just like washing my face each night. Losing weight is such a broad goal. I need to make one or two small changes and stick with them.

So, here are my resolutions:

1.) No more snoozing – I waste so much time every morning by hitting the snooze button 5 times. Instead, I will set the alarm for the time I need to get up, and I will get up.

2.) Track my food – I am not going to start any fad diets this year. I am simply going to track what I eat. The good and the bad. I need to be honest with myself about what I am eating. Once I get used to doing this on a regular basis, I will be able to make adjustments to my diet. I still won’t try anything crazy this year.

3.) Push myself in workouts – I workout on a very regular basis, but I don’t work out as hard as I should. Each and every workout I will aim to push myself a little farther.

4.) Stay calm – I tend to get upset easily. It’s just my personality. I can hear my dad saying to me as a child, “Abby, you need to control your temper!” Ugh. I feel like I have settled down a lot since I’ve gotten older, but I still lose my cool now and again. I want to stop and think before I react, especially with my daughter.

So, there they are, my four resolutions. And Day One doesn’t count 😉
